The God in Large Things

The Indian writer Arundhati Roy wrote the acclaimed novel The God of Small Things. As mankind continues to kill in the name of religion, nationalism, sectarianism, tribalism and for no reason I continue to reflect on this old oak tree which I had the honour of painting. It is nearly 1000 years old as I mentioned in a previous post. In that time the killing has never stopped. This tree has killed nothing. On the contrary it is home to insects, birds and animals and each day aids in the purification of our planet. You could even believe it is better qualified to contain God than the Human Race!
